NRI Puja planning · Purvaj

Find your Tirth Pandit, wherever your family lives.

Living abroad need not mean starting your ritual planning without a local connection. Purvaj helps you explore Tirth destinations, compare Pandit profiles and prepare a clear brief for an in-person visit or a remote-participation enquiry.

A familiar starting point, even from overseas

Purvaj brings ritual guides and Pandit discovery together. Use the guide to understand what you want to arrange, then compare people and services for the destination your family has chosen.

Travelling to India

Find a Pandit before you travel and discuss the ceremony alongside your arrival dates, family language and mobility needs.

Enquiring about remote participation

Ask whether the particular rite can be arranged with remote attendance or a representative in your tradition. Online booking alone does not mean a live ceremony is included.

Understand ancestral observances

From your first search to a shared family plan

Use these five planning steps at your own pace. They describe how to prepare an arrangement, not a fixed travel itinerary or a confirmed service package.

STEP 1Choose the Tirth and ritual

Start with the family’s purpose: ancestral remembrance, ash immersion, temple worship or another observance. Explore Purvaj’s destination guides before selecting a Pandit.

Keep any instructions from your family priest ready, especially where a tithi or particular ritual tradition matters.

STEP 2Compare Pandit profiles

Use the profiles below and the booking app to compare listed languages and ritual services. Open the full profile to learn more about the Pandit you are considering.

Check whether the person can guide your specific rite and explain it in the language your family prefers.

Explore Prayagraj Pandits
STEP 3Agree on how your family participates

Say whether relatives will attend in India, join live from overseas or receive a recording. Ask who will make the sankalpa and what the family needs to prepare.

These are different formats. For example, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust publishes a video-conference Rudrabhishek service; that does not establish remote availability for every rite or every Pandit. See the Temple Trust’s service description.

Explore Kashi Pandits
STEP 4Confirm the date and both local times

Ask the priest to state the ritual date, place and local time. Send a calendar invitation that shows the correct time for relatives abroad; seasonal clock changes can affect the conversion.

For remote participation, agree on a connection test, coordinator and fallback contact. For an in-person visit, keep arrival and travel buffers separate from the ritual time.

STEP 5Keep the booking details together

Confirm the named Pandit, venue, rite, participants, materials, total, payment recipient and changes policy in the booking arrangement.

If a recording, representative or additional travel help is requested, agree explicitly on availability, consent and what will be delivered.

Explore Pandits for your family’s Tirth

Start with Pandits in Kashi, Gaya, Prayagraj and Haridwar. Open a profile or continue to the booking app, then narrow your search by the ritual and language you need.

ARRANGEMENTWHAT IT MEANSWHAT TO CONFIRM
In-person visitYour family attends the ritual in India.Place, meeting time, participants and supplied materials.
Live participation enquiryFamily members ask to join through a video connection.Suitability, platform, time zones and what happens if the connection fails.
Recorded observance enquiryA recording is supplied after the ceremony if agreed.Consent, who performs the rite and delivery method.
Representative enquiryA named person attends or acts for the family where appropriate.Family-priest guidance, identity, role and scope.
Travel with ashesThe physical transport of an urn is separate from a puja booking.Airline rules, official clearance and the person responsible for handovers.

Use the same family brief when discussing an arrangement, so the Pandit can respond to your actual needs.

Request a quote for your family’s arrangement

The ritual, destination, priest services, materials and requested participation format determine what needs to be quoted. Confirm the amount and currency rather than assuming a price from another temple or an earlier package applies.

Keep religious services and travel costs distinct

Ask which materials, dakshina, recordings, postage or assistance are included, and whether any transfer or hotel is separate. Continue through Purvaj’s booking app with the Pandit you choose and retain the final confirmation.

Make participation easier across countries

Names, language and family roles

Prepare names in a script the priest can read, relationships and gotra if known. Identify uncertainties and request a read-back before the ceremony.

Bringing ashes to India

Use the Ministry of Health’s separate Ashes workflow and check each operating airline. Documentation and urn transport are separate from booking a Pandit. eCARe manual · Air India guidance.

Prepare your family’s ritual brief

Create a summary to keep or share with the Pandit you choose through Purvaj. It stays in your browser until you download or share it; this worksheet does not send a booking or reserve a date.

Before you confirm the arrangement

Agree on deposits, date changes, cancellations and any remote-connection fallback. Confirm who will receive family details and recordings. Keep the Pandit’s confirmation and payment acknowledgement together; completing the brief above does not create a reservation.

Planning from abroad: common questions

How can I find a Pandit in India while living abroad?

Use Purvaj’s guides and profiles to choose a destination and explore Pandits. Open a profile, compare listed languages and services, and continue in the booking app with your preferred Pandit.

Does online booking include a live video ceremony?

Not automatically. State that you want remote participation and ask whether it is suitable and available for the chosen rite. A reservation, live connection and recording are different arrangements.

Can family members join from different countries?

Discuss this with the selected Pandit. Agree on the platform, ritual location, time zone and coordinator, and send an invitation displaying the right local time for each household.

Does the family brief submit a booking?

No. The worksheet creates a summary in your browser for you to download or share. Continue separately in the booking app to arrange the service.

What if we are bringing ashes to India?

Plan the urn’s transport separately. Check the operating airline, the Ministry of Health’s Ashes workflow and the relevant Indian mission before travelling. Purvaj’s Asthi Visarjan guide explains the preparation questions.
